The practice of bodybuilding is a seemingly simple but actually a complex activity. Before you can attack its complexities, however, you must first understand the simple approach.
Bodybuilding is done by working muscles against resistance. In order to have a fully developed body, all the muscles groups must be worked. In order to have a well-proportioned body, the least developed and responsive muscles must be worked harder than those that grow easily.
There are variations in individual response to exercise, but in general the best results are obtained by working against resistance ( usually in the form of a barbells or dumbbells) that permits a number of repetitions that will produce a full flush of blood to the working muscle usually referred to as a “Pump” To get the “Skin Splitting Pump” I often mention in my videos, this requires concentration and in many cases a bit of technique.
To obtain this “Skin Splitting Pump” the number of repetitions must be high starting at the very first exercise on the very first set. The rest time must be kept brief for two reasons: 1) this keeps the blood flush in the muscle and; 2) this is a cardiovascular effect by keeping the heart rate accelerated. Refer to my “Drop Sets” video for a full discussion on this.
